Khadija Neely

18U Scrap Yard Internationals Coach

Khadija Neely is originally from Roanoke, Alabama and has been involved in athletics since a very young age. During her high school years, she attended Lagrange Academy (Lagrange, GA) from 2009-2012 were she was a 3-sport athlete (Softball, Basketball, and Soccer). She started all 4 years at shortstop/catcher. In her final season, she helped lead Lagrange Academy’s softball team to their 5th State Championship title. Khadija decided to continue her softball career at Chattanooga State Community College (Chattanooga, TN) where she found a new position on the field at 3rd base. After receiving an Associates of Behavioral Science in Exercise Science degree she found her way back to Alabama at Troy University. Troy University awarded Khadija an athletic scholarship and there she started 99 of 104 games played at the hot corner. Khadija graduated with honors (Cum Laude) receiving a B.S in Exercise Science – Wellness and Fitness degree in May of 2017 were she spent her “5th year” as a student assistant for the Troy University Softball Program. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Sports Administration from Troy. 
Coaching Experience
Asst. Coach-Scrap Yard Dawgs/Scrap Yard Internationals (May 2016-Present)
o Coordinated drills and assisted with practice                                           
o Aided athletes with fielding, hitting and mental aspects of the game
o Communicated with the athletes on and off the field about the expectations of being a college athlete 
o Chaperoned athletes during tournaments  
Student Assistant-Troy University Softball (Aug 2016- May 2017)
o Assist in day-to-day responsibilities of the Troy Softball Staff            
o Assist with Game Day responsibilities (i.e. food, field prep, stats)
o A resource of information and experience as alumni of Troy Softball
Intern- Troy University Strength and Conditioning (Jan 2017-May 2017)
o Worked under certified strength and conditioning coaches and graduate assistants 
o Assisted daily with weight room operations (i.e. instructing and administering workouts, ensuring lifting safety, help maintain facility up keep)
o Assisted with NFL Pro Day at Troy University
o Pre-training for athlete’s skills test with prospects
o On the field operations on testing day assisting NFL Scouts.
