Jessi Carreon Verbally Commits to UTA

12/03/2017 6:16 PM -
Congratulations to Scrap Yard Internationals 16U utility player, Jessi Carreon, for verbally committing to the University of Texas at Arlington! Jessi is currently a sophomore at College Station High School, where she maintains a 3.6 GPA and has gained multiple softball honors for the Cougars. In addition to her success on the softball field, Jessi has been a Regional Qualifier on her high school powerlifting team, as well as being involved with FFA and the Grace Bible Church Youth Group.
With a strong support system of family and friends around her, Jessi’s commitment to such an outstanding school came as no surprise. When asked about her future as a Maverick, Jesse said, “Ever since I was little my dream has been to play D1 college softball. When I committed to UTA that dream came true! The university is a perfect fit for me, the campus is beautiful, and the facilities are amazing! I can’t wait to learn from Coach Brun, Coach Morgan, and Coach C! I’m so excited that UTA will be my home away from home. Go Mavericks!”
Jessi’s coach on the 16U Scrap Yard Internationals, Tommy Colonnetta, had nothing but glowing remarks about Jessi and her commitment to UTA. Tommy stated, “Jess is going to be a great fit for Coach Brun at UTA. The girl can just flat out play. I really couldn’t believe she hadn’t had more interest from schools prior to her coming to our organization. Her hustle and intelligence on the field really sets her apart. She’s a really aggressive player that plays with an edge. Every coach loves that! We can’t wait to watch her succeed as a Maverick!”
When Jessie’s parents, Vinnie and Amy, were asked about Jessi’s future in Arlington, it was clear that they could not be happier about UTA. They said, “Jess once received the ‘all out’ award in 4th grade. That’s how she approaches this game she loves. What a joy it is to see her hard work pay off! UTA truly impressed us. All it took was seeing the expression on Jessi’s face during her visit to know she was where she belonged. Great coaches and a strong program make it a perfect fit for our kid!”
Congratulations to Jessi and the Carreon family!
